PURPOSE
Shall be a guiding force which strives to foster the high ideals of friendship
and cooperation and to develop the best qualities of character among the Council
members.
COUNCIL
Made up of sixteen organizations, chartered at eight different Universities
around Southern California; however the members that make up these organizations
are from around the world representing a diversity of Asian and Non-Asian
cultures.
THE COUNCIL...
- Enforces its constitution so that all organizations are treated with equality
and fairness.
- Mediates conflicts between Council members.
- Promotes scholastic excellence and community service.
- Cultivates group and Asian Greek Council awareness.
- Promotes responsibility, honesty, and integrity among the groups, for without
these guiding ideals, none of the previous goals could be accomplished.
ANNUAL EVENTS
Two annual events are hosted by the Asian Greek Council of Southern California (SoCal
AGC) to support interfraternalism; these are the SoCal AGC Annual Picnic and
Talent Show.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
The Council also encourages each chapter to perform at leave five community
service projects each year, not including the All-SoCal AGC community service
projects. Awarded the Community Involvement Award from the Western Region Greek
Association for the past two academic school years (2004-2005, and 2005-2006).
ASIAN-INTEREST ACTIVITIES
Being that the Council is made up of Asian-interest fraternities and sororities,
it promotes Asian-interest activities; ones that the chapters can help with,
ones that the chapters can learn from, and ones that the chapters can just
enjoy.
